Santoor Ribbed Terracotta Planter — Raaga Collection
The Santoor ribbed terracotta planter takes its name from the hammered strings of the instrument it echoes — fine, close-set vertical ribbing running the full height of the body, each line distinct but never competing with the next. It’s a quieter pattern than Crest’s chevron or Botanica’s carved motifs, built on repetition and rhythm rather than a single bold gesture.
The two shades read in opposite registers. Sky sits pale and cool — a soft grey-blue wash across the ribbing that recedes rather than announces itself, suited to spaces that want texture without colour. Copper runs the same form through a warm rust-brown finish, with the ribs catching light at the edges the way aged metal does — more presence, same restraint.
The stepped base is part of Santoor’s silhouette, not an accident of the mould — it gives the cylinder a grounded, deliberate foot rather than a tapering edge, and it’s the detail that separates Santoor visually from Sitar and Veena elsewhere in the Raaga Collection.
At 38cm across, the Large Santoor ribbed terracotta planter holds a substantial plant with room to grow. The Small at 20.5cm suits a desk, a step, or a cluster of three on a console.
Each Santoor planter is hand-finished. Minor variation in rib depth and surface tone is inherent to the process — it is the character of the piece, not a flaw.

Care and placement
Indoor and covered outdoor only. Keep away from direct rain and continuous harsh sunlight. Windows, balconies, and patios in shade are ideal. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Single base drainage hole. Use a saucer indoors.For succulents and other low-water plants, add a gravel layer at the base before potting, or drop in a nursery pot for easier maintenance and repotting. For moisture-loving plants, pot directly with a well-draining potting mix, and check soil moisture before watering rather than on a fixed schedule.

Beena’s curatiorial tips
Santoor’s ribbing is fine and close — it photographs best in raking light, early morning or late afternoon, when the grooves cast their own shadow lines. Flat midday light flattens the whole effect.
Sky is the shade I use when a room already has colour and texture elsewhere — it sits back and lets other things lead. Copper is the one that adds warmth to a cool room without needing a warm-toned plant to do the work.
Three Santoor planters in ascending sizes, same shade, on a single shelf or console is one of the simplest compositions in the Raaga range — the repetition of the ribbing across three scales becomes the visual interest, no plant required to finish the look.
