Nectar Textured Terracotta Planter

Nectar textured terracotta planter is the quietest piece in the Midori range — no carved motif, no bold pattern, just a fine, continuous wave texture worked across the entire surface, close enough in scale to read as fabric from a distance and reveal itself as clay only on closer look. The rounded, slightly tapered body has no hard edges or stepped base; it settles rather than stands, with a soft, generous curve from rim to foot.

The two shades are close in spirit, distinguished by warmth rather than contrast. Dune carries a soft, sandy undertone — pale but not cold. Ivory runs paler still, closer to bone-white, suited to spaces that want the texture to do all the talking with no colour competing for attention. Both shades let the wave pattern read primarily through light and shadow rather than tonal contrast, which is what makes Nectar feel textile-like rather than ceramic at a glance.

At 35cm across, the Large holds a substantial plant while keeping a soft, unobtrusive presence in a room. The Small at 18.5cm is suited to a shelf, a desk, or a quiet cluster where texture rather than scale carries the composition.

Each Nectar textured terracotta planter is hand-finished. Minor variation in texture depth and surface tone is inherent to the process — it is the character of the piece, not a flaw.

Available in three sizes and can be picked up individually. Comes with a single drain hole at the base.

Large: 35cm dia × 26cm H · Medium: 25cm dia × 19cm H · Small: 18.5cm dia × 14cm H

Care and placement

Indoor and covered outdoor only. Keep away from direct rain and continuous harsh sunlight. Windows, balconies, and shaded patios are ideal. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Single base drainage hole. Use a saucer indoors.

For succulents and other low-water plants, add a gravel layer at the base before potting, or drop in a nursery pot for easier maintenance and repotting.

For moisture-loving plants, pot directly with a well-draining potting mix, and check soil moisture before watering rather than on a fixed schedule.

Plant Match Note
Peace Lily ✓ Perfect Ivory · white bloom against the palest shade, nothing competes
Calathea ✓ Perfect Ivory · patterned leaf against plain texture — quiet contrast
Pothos ✓ Strong Dune · trailing form softens the rounded body further
Philodendron ✓ Strong Dune · warm-toned leaf works naturally against the sandy undertone
Jade Plant ✓ Strong Small · compact, structural, doesn’t compete with the texture
Spider Plant ✓ Strong Either shade · easy, forgiving, suits the unobtrusive mood
Bold architectural plants (Snake Plant) △ Possible Works but slightly undercuts Nectar’s quiet character — better suited to a louder piece like Sitar
Brightly variegated foliage ✗ Avoid Visual competition against a piece designed to recede, not announce

Beena’s curating tips

Nectar is the planter I reach for when a room already has enough going on — a patterned rug, a strong piece of art, a busy shelf. It adds texture without adding visual noise, which is a rarer quality than it sounds.

Ivory is the shade for spaces that want to feel calm and a little monastic — bedrooms, reading corners, anywhere the goal is quiet. Dune brings a little more warmth without sacrificing that same restraint.

Run a hand across Nectar before you decide where it goes — the wave texture is genuinely tactile, and it’s wasted on a high shelf where no one will ever touch it. Low tables, consoles, anywhere within reach.
