Sitar Ribbed Terracotta Planter — Raaga Collection
The Sitar ribbed terracotta planter is the tallest, most upright form in the Raaga Collection — a true cylinder, with no taper and no curve, where Santoor steps and Veena tapers. The ribbing here is the most pronounced of the three: deeper grooves, more pronounced shadow lines, running edge to edge without interruption. It is the most architectural piece in the collection, built for spaces that want height and presence rather than a rounded, settled form.
The two shades of the Sitar ribbed terracotta planter push in opposite directions on the same cylindrical body. Indigo is deep and atmospheric — a dark slate-blue that reads almost charcoal in low light, with the base darkening further into near-black. It is the shade for spaces that want drama and depth. Pearl is the inverse — a pale, cool powder-blue with a soft grey base, luminous rather than moody, suited to spaces that want height without weight.
Both shades share the same stepped base as Santoor, but on Sitar’s taller, straighter body the step reads more like a plinth — it gives the cylinder a sense of having been set down deliberately, rather than simply standing.
At 40.5cm across and 49cm tall, the Large is genuinely architectural — suited to flanking an entrance or anchoring a double-height corner. The Small at 26cm diameter still carries real height at 30cm, making it useful even at the smallest size for spaces that want verticality without footprint.
Each Sitar planter is hand-finished. Minor variation in rib depth and surface tone is inherent to the process — it is the character of the piece, not a flaw.

Care and placement
Indoor and covered outdoor only. Keep away from direct rain and continuous harsh sunlight. Entrances, corners, and covered patios in shade are ideal. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.Single base drainage hole. Use a saucer indoors. For succulents and other low-water plants, add a gravel layer at the base before potting, or drop in a nursery pot for easier maintenance and repotting. For moisture-loving plants, pot directly with a well-draining potting mix, and check soil moisture before watering rather than on a fixed schedule.

Beena’s curating tips
Sitar is the one piece in Raaga I tell people not to underfill. A short, squat plant in a tall Sitar looks like an afterthought — give it something with real height, or let the empty cylinder above the soil line be part of the composition deliberately, the way you’d leave negative space in a vase arrangement.
Indigo belongs where you want a room to feel grounded and a little serious — a study, a formal entrance, a hallway that needs gravity. Pearl does the opposite: it lifts a space without adding visual noise, which is why it’s the one I reach for in bedrooms and quieter corners.
