The Bark Planter is a study in surface. A dense pattern of fine horizontal ridges wraps the full body — tighter and more intricate than coil work, closer to the texture of tree bark or scored earth — and into these ridges, layers of brown, grey, and warm ochre are worked and abraded until the finish settles into something that feels accumulated rather than applied.

The form is a gentle truncated cylinder: slightly wider at the base than at the rim, with a clean, unadorned opening. The silhouette is deliberately quiet, ceding the conversation entirely to the surface. In warm interior light — as shown here — the earthy tones deepen, the ridges cast fine shadows, and the pot reads as something almost geological in character.  Surface finish is individually worked — tone and texture distribution will vary between pieces

It sits comfortably on a coffee table, side table, or shelf without demanding the space around it.A piece that rewards closeness. The more light falls across it, the more the surface reveals.

Care

Comes with a drain hole.  Keep away from direct outdoor sunlight and rain.  Wipe clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing, which may disturb the layered pigment in the ridged surface.

The Bark Planter carries the memory of something ancient — a tree trunk cross-section, a weathered barrel, a forest floor after rain. It belongs in spaces that aren’t trying too hard.

At tabletop scale, pair it with something equally sculptural and undemanding: Rhipsalis is the natural choice — its radiating needle stems mirror the bark’s horizontal rings without competing. Small cacti, Haworthia clusters, or a single trailing Sedum work just as well. Place it on dark wood, aged teak, or a textured stone surface — never on white laminate or glass, where it loses all its character. A beaded mat, a brass object, a river stone alongside it — the Bark rewards company that has its own story.

At statement scale, the large Bark Planter on a console, mantle, or low plinth planted with a bold Euphorbia or a branching Crassula ovata becomes the room’s anchor — something that looks like it has always been there.

Empty, it holds its own as a purely sculptural object. That is rare in a planter. Use it.
