The Strata is built in layers — horizontal ridges wrapping the body at close, even intervals from base to rim, each one a quiet record of the earth’s own logic. The silhouette is unusual and immediately recognisable: wide and stable at the base, tapering gradually before opening again into a broad, generous mouth. Neither urn nor cylinder. Something older than both.

Over the ridged body, a chalky white wash has been applied and worn back, leaving the warm terracotta to emerge across much of the surface. The white remains deepest in the recessed grooves between ridges, while the raised bands carry more of the raw clay tone — warm peach and sand against the pale wash. The surface reads like aged plaster or sun-bleached stone: quiet, unforced, and thoroughly at home in a warm interior.

The wide mouth makes Strata a generous vessel for loose, branching arrangements — flowering stems, olive branches, dried botanicals, tall grasses — where the planter grounds the composition rather than containing it. It is equally considered as a planted piece: a trailing Pothos, a clump of ornamental grass, or a single architectural Euphorbia each find Strata a worthy companion.

Beena’s styling notes

Strata is one of the few planters in the Midori range that works as beautifully empty as it does planted — the silhouette alone justifies its place on a console or sideboard. For cut arrangements, reach for something tall and branching that the wide mouth can hold loosely: Waxflower, olive stems, dried Pampas, or cherry blossom in season. Don’t over-arrange — drop the stems in, adjust once, and leave them. For planted use, a trailing Pothos or String of Pearls spilling over the wide rim is effortless and right. A pair at two different heights, as shown, is the easiest considered tablescape you will ever put together — same planter, same finish, different scale. Against a warm plaster wall or beside a framed landscape print, Strata needs no other company.

Care

Wipe clean with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid scrubbing, which may wear the wash unevenly. For cut stems, use a glass or plastic liner to protect the interior from prolonged water contact
